Michelle Bennett Oates
Michelle has always painted wildlife and in the 1980s she was elected to the Society of Wildlife Artists, however, some years ago she decided to concentrate on flower painting using the medium of oil on board in the tradition of the Dutch School of flower painters.
Michelle’s work hangs in collections in the USA, Russia, Hong Kong, and Singapore.
She has exhibited her flower paintings at the Fell Gallery in Singapore; the Tryon and Morland Gallery in Cork Street; the Eaton Gallery and the Oakham Gallery in London; Stacy Marks Gallery Eastbourne; Mandells Gallery Norwich; Westcliff Gallery Norfolk and Elford Fine Art, Tavistock.
Michelle moved to Galloway, Scotland, in 2010. She lives with her husband and two dogs, three miles from the sea, in the rolling hills, surrounded by 20 acres of woods and fields where she has hares, foxes, and roe deer on her doorstep. She now feels great excitement in painting the Scottish landscape where she finds endless inspiration in the changing seasons. ln the winter she likes to go up to the Highlands to paint the drama of the mountains and hills, and coastal landscapes.
Michelle has a sister Helen who lives near Falmouth, Cornwall and whilst visiting she likes to paint the beautiful Cornish fishing harbours.
